AVX Asia was founded in 1984 and started in Hong Kong.Two years later, we started manufacturing in Singapore, and in the third year we set up sales offices in Taiwan and South Korea.In 1990, AVX took an important step forward in its strategic alliance by partnering with Japan's Kyocera, bringing together the two world leaders in passive microelectronics technology in terms of expertise, development experience, know-how and market capabilities.In the same year, we expanded our business in Asia, opened a production base in Batam, Indonesia, and set up a sales branch in Malaysia.In 1993, our departments in Singapore and Hong Kong passed ISO9002 quality standard certification.The Singapore branch has also expanded its operations and scale.In 1994, there was a new initiative in strategic alliance, namely, partnership with Elco.The company is a world-class supplier of quality electronic connectors and interconnecting systems.We are expanding in Asia and have established a sales department in Shanghai, China.It opened a factory in Shanghai in 1996 and a warehouse in tianjin in 1997.In 1998, we acquired Thomson's passive components company, adding ferrite devices, film capacitors and power capacitors to the existing variety.
